Monthly Archives: July 2012

I’m Back…Again…

I’m NOT going to whine…for too long. The truth of the matter is that my life has been just crazy for the last three or four months. Not always crazy in a bad way…just kinda sorta crazy. I won’t bore everyone to death with all of the gory…Hmmm, gory is probably TOO strong…details. I will do better…I will do better…

Back to Stephen Fisher Photography. Things are good…VERY good! The Rockport Art Festival was very successful for us. 2012 was the first year we applied…and we made it in! I was proud of our booths…and even more proud of our art. People were MOST kind with their comments and purchases. I learned a LOT at this show. Maybe for the first time I felt like a legitimate artist! I can do THIS!

We’ll be exhibiting in at least two more big shows this year. I also expect to hear today if my application for a show on Galveston Island was accepted. That would be GOOD! More on these shows later.

I need to get out and SHOOT something! Most of my time lately has been spent building back up inventory. More later…SEF

Rockport Art Festival…

It’s over…and it was GREAT! The 2012 Rockport Art Festival is history. This was an unbelievable experience for me…

The Rockport Art Festival is a BIG annual art show. All art categories were represented… Ceramics, Glass, Jewelry,Mixed media, Painting, Pastel drawing, PHOTOGRAPHY, Sculpture, and Wood. Over 140 artists from all over the country were chosen to participate in this two-day show.

No big surprise, but it was HOT! Rockport, Texas in July is ALWAYS hot. In spite of the heat, thousands and thousands of art-lovers cruised around and invested their hard earned $$$ in fine art.

Stephen Fisher Photography had two 10 x 10 booths..directly across the walkway from each other. I’ve been working pretty hard for several months building up inventory for this show. I was pleased with our set-up, and so were the customers! It was an EXTREMELY rewarding…

I had several goals for this show. Of course I wanted to SELL some of my images…and I did. I also wanted to use this as an opportunity to “market test” new images…different sizes…framed vs. unframed…and on and on and on. Another one of my goals was to try and make some contacts for  more local gallery associations. I have some of my art over at the Treehouse Art Collective in Corpus Christi. It would be great to have some images here in Rockport. We’ll see…

OK…Thats the deal. This was fun…and educational. More later…
